Wooden Marble: Basic (1 of 2)

What makes it special: The blue, brown and green combined with yellow.

How long it lasts:
This is a tricky question. If you make it well you can have this design for a few days and just make small fixtures on the edges. This time I did a bad job with this design and the marble was bumpy and lacking contrast. That's with I stayed with it one day and I moved to the Wooden Marble: Shiny (2 of 2) as soon as I got back home in the evening.

To cook this look you need:

  • Three kitties
  • Base coat
  • Good white nail polish as base
  • Brown nail polish
  • Yellow nail polish
  • Green nail polish
  • Blue nail polish (I used three shades of blue which I think was completely useless, one can do the job!)
  • Cup of water
  • (Optional) Nail polish remover, cotton, toothpicks (and everything else you use to clean the mess when you make your marble nails
Steps:
  • Apply the base coat
  • Apply two or even three layers of white nail polish. Wait to dry.
  • Full the cup with water
  • Put drops of the nail polishes in the water and draw lines with the toothpick
  • (Optional) Wrap your hands in tape, cover the skin in hand cream or do whatever you do to prevent the mess that will follow
  • Dip your nails in the cup (one hand only)
  • Use the toothpick to collect the rest of the nail polish floating in the water
  • Take your fingers out of the water
  • Clean the nail polish from the skin
  • Repeat with the other hand
  • Repeat with the other hand
  • Apply top coat while it is still wet because it will smoothen the bumps (if you have aby)
  • Wait to dry
